Traffic (Compulsory MTPL)

Compulsory traffic insurance covers property damage and injury your vehicle causes to others, up to set limits.

Traffic (Compulsory MTPL)

What is Traffic (Compulsory MTPL) and how does it work?

Compulsory traffic insurance (compulsory liability) pays the other party's vehicle, property and injury losses up to the limits set by law if you are involved in an accident. It is a legal requirement for everyone with a motor vehicle, and the policy must stay in force at all times.

Traffic insurance does not cover damage to your own car. For serious accidents where the other party's loss may exceed the limit, a voluntary liability (İMM) policy can help, and kasko can protect your own vehicle. Missing the policy end date risks both a fine and financial exposure after an accident.

Who is it for?

It is compulsory for every vehicle owner on the road. The premium differs by type of vehicle: car, motorcycle, commercial vehicle, tractor and so on.

What you need to know about traffic insurance

Traffic insurance is compulsory and covers the damage you cause to others with your car, up to the policy limits. Damage to your own car is not included; that needs kasko.

Renewing before the policy expires is important, because driving with a lapsed policy can bring penalties and serious financial liability if an accident happens. No-claims and claims history affect the premium, so comparing quotes from different insurers helps.

How does the process work with Santerna?

First we listen to your needs and budget. Then we collect suitable quotes from the insurers we work with and put the cover and conditions side by side in a simple table. You make the choice; after the policy is issued we track the renewal date and stand by you when a claim happens. You can reach us by phone, WhatsApp or by visiting our office.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I do not have traffic insurance?

Driving without a policy can lead to an administrative fine, and after an accident you may have to pay the other party's losses yourself.

How is the premium determined?

Vehicle type, use, no-claims status and province affect the premium. Insurers' prices can differ within the legal framework, so comparing is worthwhile.

What is İMM and when is it needed?

Voluntary liability insurance is an extra policy that pays the other party's remaining loss in serious accidents where the compulsory traffic limit is not enough.
