Boat & Yacht
Hull, machinery and third-party liability cover for motor yachts, sailboats, speedboats and jet skis.

What is Boat & Yacht and how does it work?
Boat and yacht insurance protects the hull, machinery and equipment of motor yachts, sailboats, speedboats, gulets and jet skis against risks such as collision, sinking, grounding, storm, fire and theft. The policy also includes liability cover for property damage and injury your boat causes to third parties.
Many policies also cover salvage and towing costs, outboard engines and trailers, and accident cover for the skipper and crew. The geographic limit (cruising area), whether you charter the boat out and whether it is stored ashore in winter are the main points that set cover and premium.
Who is it for?
It suits boat and yacht owners, anyone signing a marina berth contract, charter businesses and jet ski owners.
Core concepts in boat insurance
Boat and yacht insurance protects the hull, machinery and equipment against marine perils, fire and theft. The same policy usually includes liability cover for damage your boat causes to others. Assistance and salvage costs after an incident are also arranged separately in most policies.
The sum insured is set as an “agreed value”, which is why a current survey report matters. Conditions such as cruising area, purpose of use and winter storage on land directly affect whether the policy responds. Compare these conditions in writing before you decide.
How does the process work with Santerna?
First we listen to your needs and budget. Then we collect suitable quotes from the insurers we work with and put the cover and conditions side by side in a simple table. Frequently asked questions
Is boat insurance mandatory?
It is generally not mandatory, but marinas and berth contracts often ask for a policy and it is practically necessary to protect a valuable asset. Check the current requirements with us.
Do I need cover while my boat is stored ashore in winter?
Yes. Fire, theft, storm and crane-lift damage can occur on land; policies define separate conditions for this period.
Does my policy remain valid if I charter the boat out?
Private-use policies usually exclude chartering. For charter you need a policy with commercial-use conditions.
